Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
Dr. Ali Sadeghianmaryan
Dr. Ali Sadeghianmaryan is working in Dr. Joel Bumgardner’s Lab.as a postdoctoral researcher. The current areas of his study are Wound dressing, Skin Scaffolding, Bone Tissue Engineering, 3D-Bioprinting, and Electrospinning. He completed his bachelor's degree, master's, and Ph.D. in Chemistry and Fiber science at IAU University. he studied the application of nano-bio materials for medical purposes. He is well accomplished and trained in drug delivery carriers, In Vitro cytotoxicity tests, In Vitro characterization, biocompatibility, and nano-biofabrication. Dr. Ali Sadeghianmaryan did research internships at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, as a visiting professor in the field of 3D-Bioprinting of Chitosan to fabricate Cartilage Tissue Engineering. He has explored different skills during his professional career, such as Tissue Engineering, Scaffolding, Wound Dressing Fabrications, Polymers, and Fibers, Electrospinning, 3D-bioprinting, and Drug Delivery.

Doctoral Graduate Student
A. Blass Watson
Blass Watson is a Ph.D. graduate student in Dr. Joel Bumgardner’s Lab. Graduated from Mississippi State University in Winter 2016 with a BS in Biomedical Engineering. Research experience in robotics and additive manufacturing under Dr. Cindy Bethel at MSU. He joined the University of Memphis – University of Tennessee Health Science Centre Joint Graduate Program in Biomedical Engineering in fall 2017. He received his MS in Biomedical Engineering in fall 2020, working with both electrospun and electrosprayed chitosan composite materials for guided bone regeneration. He is currently working with additively manufactured chitosan bio-inks. Blass has currently published 2 articles in reputed journals.

Doctoral Graduate Student
Alex Bryan
Alex Bryan is a PhD graduate student in Dr. Joel Bumgardner’s Lab. Graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in Spring 2019 with a BS in Biomedical Engineering. Research experience in electrospinning biodegradable polyurethanes for tissue engineering applications under Dr. Cosgriff-Hernandez at UT Austin. Now working to electrospin chitosan and elastin for guided bone regeneration.
Masters Graduate Student
Jerry W Jenkins III
Jerry Jenkins is a Master's Graduate Student in Dr. Joel Bumgardner's lab. Graduated from the University of Memphis in Spring 2022 with a BS in Biomedical Engineering. He served as an intern at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in the Chemical Biology and Therapeutics department from Summer 2021 to Spring 2022. He is currently working with Blass Watson on additively manufactured chitosan bio-inks.

Samantha Hall
Samantha Hall has been an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Joel Bumgardner’s lab since 2021. She will graduate with a BS in Biomedical Engineering in Spring 2023. Samantha is a part of the Accelerated Bachelor's to Master's program and is currently studying macrophage polarization in vitro.

Ethan Wales
Ethan Wales (right) has been an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Bumgardner’s lab since January 2021. He will graduate with a BS in Biomedical Engineering in Spring 2023. Ethan is currently in the Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s program and currently works with the electrospinning of chitosan and elastin along Alex Bryan.

Haley Pruitt
Haley Pruitt (center) is an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Joel Bumgardner’s lab. She will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering in Spring 2023. Haley is a part of the Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s program and is currently studying the elution of raspberry ketone and simvastatin from electrospun chitosan membranes.
